Bruce Brandenburg

My name is Bruce Brandenburg. I am the Missionary Prep and Care Director for Training Leaders
International and am starting my fifth year with the mission. My main responsibility is to
encourage and help our long term global partners. My wife Marnee and I have been married for
45 years and have been blessed with four married adult children. John (44) is a graphic designer
with the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association, and had a chance to meet Dr. Ondrej Franka at
the funeral of Billy Graham. Paul (42) is an agent with the US Secret Service. Sara (40) is an ICU
nurse at University of Minnesota Hospital. Benjamin (35) is a history professor at Montreat
College. We are blessed with 10 grandchildren!
I graduated from Pillsbury Baptist Bible College in 1973 with a BA in biblical studies and history.
I studied further at Central Baptist Theological Seminary in Minneapolis and graduated in 1977
with a M.Div. My wife and I served the Lord for 22 years in church planting ministries in Vienna,
Austria; Penzberg, Germany; and Berlin, Germany. We also ministered for five years to
university students with Campus Bible Fellowship at the University of Minnesota.
I would challenge the students at BTS with three goals. First, love and study the Word of God.
How can a young man keep his way pure? By guarding it according to your word.
With my whole heart I seek you; let me not wander from your commandments!
I have stored up your word in my heart, that I might not sin against you. (Psalm 119:9-11).
Second, love your wife and family. Husbands, love your wives, as Christ loved the church and
gave himself up for her, (Ephesians 5:25). He must manage his own household well, with all
dignity keeping his children submissive, for if someone does not know how to manage his own
household, how will he care for Gods church? (1 Timothy 3:4-5).
Third, love the people with whom you minister together. You yourselves know how I lived
among you the whole time from the first day that I set foot in Asia, serving the Lord with all
humility and with tears and with trials that happened to me through the plots of the Jews; how
I did not shrink from declaring to you anything that was profitable, and teaching you in public
and from house to house, testifying both to Jews and to Greeks of repentance toward God and
of faith in our Lord Jesus Christ. (Acts 20:18-21).
